Frank Engel's statement following the adoption of the proposal for the Establishment of an EU mechanism on democracy, the rule of law and fundamental rights
“It’s a binding pact on the protection of democracy, the rule of law and fundamental rights in the EU, both in the Member States and in the EU institutions”, commented Frank Engel on today's vote on the proposal for the Establishment of an EU mechanism on the rule of law.
"The problem is not the absence of rules or the modification of rules, the problem is the respect of the existing rules”, said Frank Engel during Euranet Plus' "U Talking to Me?" debate yesterday.
During the debate on the EU-Turkey agreement, Frank Engel argued that the EU-Turkey deal is only the start of a deeper and more conclusive engagement and that Turkey should not try to blackmail the Europe Union.
